Introduction.

Macmillan Jersey is a well-known charity within the island. They are financially independent from Macmillan UK and therefore are responsible for their own fundraising. Macmillan Jersey approached us as they were looking to redesign and rebuild their existing site. At the core of the brief was a way to accept donations which streamlined their existing process.

The Challenge.

One of the biggest pain points for Macmillan Jersey was that their donations, which are essential to their operation, were coming in through multiple channels, meaning that reconciling donations had to be done across multiple platforms which was both complicated and time consuming.

There were also a number of limitations they faced due to their existing site being built on WordPress and brand guidelines to be adhered to.

"We are absolutely thrilled with our new website. The look and feel is exactly what we wanted and we couldn’t be happier."

The Solution.

After gaining a full understanding of Macmillan Jersey’s needs, we set to work on redesigning the user experience to ensure the information most needed by the sites visitors was easily accessible.

At the core of the new site build was simplifying the fundraising and conations process for Macmillan Jersey.

As Macmillan Jersey requested their own sponsorship platform for fundraisers to set up, we utilised the Just Giving API which enabled us to provide just giving functionality within the Macmillan Jersey website.

To improve the site management experience for the Macmillan Jersey team we introduced them to and trained them on the use of Craft CMS.

"After many years of using WordPress, we were a little hesitant at first to be venturing into the world of Craft CMS, but it is safe to say we made the right decision."

Benefits.

On the new site, users can create a Just Giving page directly from the Macmillan Jersey’s site and all donations and money from fundraising activities goes through one payment platform, reducing the complication and workload.

Working with the Just Giving API and integrating it into the Macmillan Jersey site means that they are the only charity in Jersey with this functionality.

After the build, Macmillan Jersey were able to easily edit and update all content on their site, via their new content management system while visitors had easy access to the information they needed.

"From an editing perspective, Craft is easy to use and the front facing result is just wonderful!"

Our vision at Macmillan Jersey is that everyone affected by cancer in Jersey has access to emotional, practical and well-being support through their preferred route of contact and our new website opens up the opportunities for people to reach our services in a digital context which wasn’t possible before.
